Women of British Reggae

Brand Identity, Radio

NTS Radio’s Women of British Reggae series celebrates the contributions of women to British reggae, a movement defined by resourcefulness and creativity. Tasked with developing the visual identity for the show, the mission was to reflect the DIY ethos of the late 1970s and 1980s, an era shaped by grassroots innovation in sound systems, pirate radio, and community organising.

The design took direct inspiration from the lo-fi, handmade posters and flyers that defined the era. These were functional and expressive, often created with minimal resources but carrying a distinct energy and immediacy. Archival photographs of the featured women—provided by families and friends—were central to the compositions, reinforcing the personal and historical nature of the series.
